There may be circumstances where we may charge a small engagement fee, but for the vast majority (>99%) of our clientele, our service is free of charge. We are paid by the lender you choose to work with, and this is mutually exclusive from your loan, meaning it isn't built into your rates and fees. In simple terms, we look at the combined income vs. the existing liabilities of the household. But of course, there are other important things which will move the needle, such as lender specific policies, number of applicants and dependents, and how the loan is structured, which all play a part in answering that question more accurately.
